Is there a way to increase/decrease the magnification of the apps when you hover on them?

Yes you're right, the issue with the higher magnification is that the app icons get blurry

That's true, and there unfortunately isn't much I can do about this. I haven't found it to be that bad, but it seems by changing the icon to a custom app icon, the icons are much higher quality and won't be blurry. Perhaps give that a try.
